Update by Means of Inference
نویسنده
چکیده
Katsuno and Mendelzon have distinguished two abstract frameworks for reasoning about change: theory revision and theory update. Theory revision involves a change in knowledge or belief with respect to a static world. By contrast, theory update involves a change of knowledge or belief in a changing world. In this paper we are concerned with theory update. Winslett has shown that theory update should be computed \one model at a time." Accordingly, we focus exclusively on update of interpretations. We begin with a study of revision programming, introduced by Marek and Truszczy nski to formalize interpretation update in a language similar to logic programming. While revision programs provide a useful and natural deenition of interpretation update, they are limited to a fairly restricted set of update rules. Accordingly, we introduce the more general notion of rule update | interpretation update by arbitrary sets of inference rules. We show that Winslett's approach to update by means of arbitrary sets of formulae corresponds to a simple subclass of rule update. We also specify a simple embedding of rule update in Reiter's default logic, obtained by augmenting the original update rules with default rules encoding the commonsense law of inertia | the principle that things change only when they are made to.

متن کاملOptimization and design of Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System using Particle Swarm Optimization and Fuzzy C-Means Clustering to predict the scour after bucket spillway
Additionally, if the materials at downstream of bucket spillway are erodible, the ogee spillway is likely to overturn by the time. Therefore, the prediction of the scour after bucket spillway is pretty important. In this study, the scour depths at downstream of bucket spillway are modeled using a new meta-heuristic model. This model is developed by combination of the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Infere...
متن کاملANFIS modeling and validation of a variable speed wind turbine based on actual data
In this research paper, ANFIS modeling and validation of Vestas 660 kW wind turbine based on actual data obtained from Eoun-Ebn-Ali wind farm in Tabriz, Iran, and FAST is performed. The turbine modeling is performed by deriving the non-linear dynamic equations of different subsystems. Then, the model parameters are identified to match the actual response. ANFIS is an artificial intelligent tech...
متن کاملMulti-Output Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System for Prediction of Dissolved Metal Levels in Acid Rock Drainage: a Case Study
Pyrite oxidation, Acid Rock Drainage (ARD) generation, and associated release and transport of toxic metals are a major environmental concern for the mining industry. Estimation of the metal loading in ARD is a major task in developing an appropriate remediation strategy. In this study, an expert system, the Multi-Output Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (MANFIS), was used for estimation of...
